Growth promoters
Growth promoters are organic compounds from plant and animal sources that push growth faster. On the plant side they are regulators such as auxins, gibberellins and cytokinins; on the animal side they include hormones, antibiotics and beta-adrenergic agonists. Several countries ban some animal growth promoters outright over residues, antimicrobial resistance and consumer trust. Where use remains legal, maximum residue limits and testing keep it in check, and exporters must satisfy the toughest rules among their destination markets, with testing at borders enforcing compliance.
