A fungicide that controls fungal diseases — including powdery mildew, leaf spot and scab — across many fruit and vegetable crops. The US Environmental Protection Agency rates it as not acutely toxic (EPA IV). Also known as phaltan; residues on treated produce must respect maximum residue limits. As a phthalimide fungicide it acts as a multi-site protectant on vines, pome fruit and vegetables, with low resistance risk. It degrades relatively quickly in the environment; regulatory assessments focus on its metabolite phthalimide and on operator exposure, with buffer zones and protective equipment specified on labels.
